Android Go and compatible phones

With the continuous development of Android, some budget phones are becoming less capable of handling heavy applications due to lower memory capacity and less powerful processors.

So in order to provide a good experience for all Android devices in general, Google created Android Go for the first time in 2017 to cater to low-end devices.

What is Android Go?

Android Go may look very similar to Android or Android One. But it includes a lot of default apps from the « Go »:

  • The standard Google search app has been replaced by Google Go.
  • Go gallery instead of photos.
  • Go camera.
  • Assistant Go is an alternative to Google Assistant.
  • Files Go: Suggests you to delete unwanted files or old apps that you don’t use.

Initially, Google stated that phones with 1GB of RAM or less would get Android Go.

But with the release of Android 11, I said that all phones with 2GB or less will get Android Go.

Android Go features

on 3 things:

  • Optimize the latest Android versions to run smoothly on budget devices.
